The ControlCase 15th Annual Global Conference, held in Dubai, UAE from 16-17 January 2026, brought together global leaders in cybersecurity, governance, risk, and compliance (GRC).
One of the standout sessions at the Executive Leadership Forum #3 – Healthcare & Defense featured Karthikeyan Chandrasekaran, Associate Vice President and Head of Information Security (GRC) at Movate.
Karthikeyan spoke about the growing complexity of cybersecurity governance in highly regulated sectors, particularly healthcare and defense; these are sensitive industries where security incidents directly impact human lives, national security, and public trust.
The session was designed as a deep-dive conversation to drive cross-sector insights, with brief introductions and rich exchanges among leaders from various organizations in the industry.
Topics on security posture included HITRUST, FedRAMP, and CMMC, measuring ROI on compliance investments; other subjects covered quality versus security, balancing AI innovation with compliance, applying zero trust, preparing for compliance evolution, sand strengthening global resilience.
Here are some of his perspectives shared during the panel discussion:
“Over the next five years, enterprise data security will continue to be a critical priority for organizations across industries; when we look at frameworks like FedRAMP, they are designed to enforce discipline and consistency, while continuous monitoring and compliance mechanisms help establish a repeatable, ongoing process [rather than a one-time program].”
“From a healthcare and defense customers’ standpoint, the expectations are clear; enterprises want to build robust, resilient controls to comply with multiple global standards and embed security and compliance at the organizational level. The controls we design and implement must align with the relevant frameworks and standards we follow, thereby ensuring consistency, scalability, and trust,” said Karthikeyan.
He remarked, “It’s paramount that we treat this as an embedded operating model, not just as a periodic audit exercise. This is not something we do once and revisit later to check the compliance box; these are ongoing, established practices, supported by clearly defined governance structures, ownership, and responsibilities.”
According to Karthikeyan, this aforementioned approach of integrating into the operating model enables organizations to remain compliant not only with specific standards/frameworks, but also to continuously meet evolving regulatory and business requirements. This is exactly the approach that Movate takes.
As the event drew to a close, Karthikeyan remarked, “Looking at the pace at which AI-powered digital interventions and experiences (for patients, doctors, and medical staff) evolve across healthcare, a security-first posture and resilient GRC frameworks will reshape the next era of security.”
In My Opinion…
“In my opinion, the event was a great opportunity to brush elbows with other leaders and exchange ideas, talk about the latest trends in cybersecurity and information security. I thank Movate and ControlCase for this unique opportunity,” quipped Karthikeyan.
