The embedding of AI into enterprise software is a significant shift in the engineering approach since Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
This Point of View (POV) by Brijesh Prabhakar, EVP & COO at Movate, examines the fundamental shift from constructing logic to curating AI outcomes. Brijesh touches upon key aspects around the core philosophy, deterministic mindset, the engineering lifecycle, and the much-needed leadership.
“This is the AI mindset: In the realm of AI development (ML), examples and the objective function are provided to allow the applications to infer the logic during a training process; for example, we show the application 10,000 images labelled as ‘cat’ and the other 10K as ‘not cat’ to allow the algorithm discern the logical patterns that differentiate them,” remarks Brijesh. He says that the resulting model is ‘probabilistic’, not ‘deterministic’ (the shift toward probability from certainty).
Beyond engineering mechanics, he talks about the shifts required to scale AI; written for technology leaders, architects, and key decision-makers. This provides a framework for navigating AI adoption without oversimplification.
This 10-page POV helps enterprises understand what must change and what must be preserved when building intelligent systems that operate in an uncertain, constantly evolving world.
